Hi, I’m Suse.
I believe there is nothing more wholesome and powerful than to be seen, heard and understood by another human being. Recognizing the worth, dignity, uniqueness and journey of each person can truly vitalize and empower us - and that is why I decided to become a therapist. I see the whole of you: your pain, strengths, desires, experiences, dreams…you are welcome and safe in our space just the way you are.
I will support you in finding your own way to yourself - with all that you are - to live an authentic and integrated life. I believe you are the master of your journey, and I am just here to support you in organizing the routes 😎.
Are you ready to dive deep in the most incredible and deepest journey within?
qualifications
- I am a Licensed psychotherapist #132480, serving all California via Telehealth at this time.
- I have a Master in Marriage and Family Therapy.
- I often provide therapy using jungian and psychodynamic approaches, exploring the unconscious realms of existence. I also provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidence-based alternative to traditional talk therapy for trauma processing. Additionally, I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for skills building when needed.
- I was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil and immigrated to the United States when I was a preteen. I have personal and professional experiences related to big life transitions, such as impacts of immigration and acculturation.
- I am a mother (talk about life transition, right?). Motherhood is a whole grief/death and rebirth cycle in itself.
- I offer services in English and Portuguese. I am also professionally competent in Spanish and open in providing psychotherapy services to Spanish speaking population.
- Before starting my own private practice, I worked as a therapist and eventually as the Program Coordinator for an amazing non-profit in San Diego, offering services to at-risk children, youth and their families.
-I am a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed therapist, as a value all walks of life and respect each person’s uniqueness.
- I am also a certified yoga teacher (one of my biggest hobbies) and value the connection of our mind, body and soul and how this dynamic may also support trauma processing/healing.
